One of the most important things to do when selling your house is to de-personalize it so buyers can imagine themselves living there. There are tons of reasons to do this: you have to pack and move anyway, so start early. We all have stuff we don't need anymore, so get rid of it. And the third awesome reason is the emotional process of letting go is key to selling a house.
Here's where you start -- divide ALL your stuff into three categories:
1. MOVING SALE
4. KEEP FOR STAGING
This includes every room, closet, nook and cranny. Most important to remove all family photos, memorabilia collections, awards, trophies, anything political, sports loyalty, and personal keepsakes.
Remember, this isn't your house anymore. It's a product you are selling. DETACH and look at it from a buyer's eyes.
